Anita Borg believed that technology affects all aspects of our economic, political, social and personal lives. A technology rebel with a cause, in her life she fought tirelessly to ensure that technology’s impact would be a positive one. It was this vision that inspired Anita in 1997 to found the Institute for Women and Technology. Today this organization continues on her legacy and bears her name, The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (www.anitaborg.org).

The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Asia-Pacific (APAC)
Dr. Anita Borg devoted her adult life to revolutionising the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields. Her combination of technical expertise and fearless vision continues to inspire and motivate countless women to become active participants and leaders in creating technology.

As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita’s vision, we are pleased to announce The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Asia-Pacific (APAC). Through the scholarship, we aim to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic performance, leadership experience and demonstrated passion for computer science. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students will be chosen from the applicant pool across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and India. Each scholarship recipient will receive a scholarship amount specific to their local region in respect to tuition.

All scholarship recipients will be invited to visit a Google office in Sydney, Australia for a networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity to meet and share experiences.

Eligibility requirements
Applicants must:

Be a female student enrolled in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at an university.
Be enrolled at a University in any of the following countries: Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and India. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
Be studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
Maintain an excellent academic record.

How to apply
Please complete the online application and submit all required documents online by 31st of May, 2013. First-time users will be required to register and create an account. You will be asked to submit electronic versions of the following:
- Resume – with education, work and technical accomplishments included

- Transcripts

Bachelor’s: A copy of your current academic record
Master’s and PhD: A copy of your previous and current academic records

- Two letters of recommendation
The letters should be written by individuals who are qualified to evaluate your academic and leadership accomplishments, e.g. from a professor, adviser or supervisor. You will be asked for the name and contact information for each of your references when you complete the online application. Each contact you enter will receive an email generated by the online application including instructions on how to submit their letter electronically. The deadline for your references to complete the letter of recommendation is June 10, 2013.

- Answers to three short essay questions (suggested word count is 400-600 words per question)

Describe a significant computer science project you have worked on. (If you have worked on a major independent research project, such as research for a graduate program, please describe that work here). Give an overview of the problem and your approaches to the key technical challenges. If this was a group effort, be sure to specify your individual role and contributions.
Give an example(s) of a situation(s) where you significantly demonstrated your leadership abilities. Explain what you set out to achieve and how you went about it. What was the outcome of your efforts? These need not be demonstrated through formal or traditional leadership roles. Feel free to think broadly and examine the many ways you impact members of your technical community.
Have you thought of the next big product/technology to revolutionize the market as we know it? Write out a business proposal to a Venture Capitalist, including a description of the product/technology, your planned methodology to develop it to bring it to the consumer market and the expected positive impact on people's lives.

About the Scholars’ Retreat
All scholarship recipients will be invited to an expenses paid retreat held in Sydney, Australia in September. In addition to free time for sightseeing and socializing, the formal part of the retreat typically includes:

Informal ice breaker activities and introductions;
Introduction to the Anita Borg Institute and the scholarship program;
Personal insights, technical talks, and workshops.

Program Penajaan Pendidikan PETRONAS untuk Lepasan SPM 2012 (PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Programme)
PETRONAS sekali lagi menawarkan penajaan pendidikan peringkat universiti kepada calon-calon SPM 2012 di dalam bidang-bidang khusus berkaitan industri minyak dan gas di Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS dan universiti-universiti luar negara.

Permohonan dipelawa daripada calon-calon yang memiliki latarbelakang pencapaian akademik yang cemerlang di samping mempunyai sifat kepimpinan yang terbukti melalui penglibatan aktif di dalam aktiviti-aktiviti kokurikulum, sosial serta kesukarelawanan.

PROGRAM DI UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS (UTP)
Calon-calon yang terpilih untuk mengikuti program di UTP dikehendaki menjalani Program Pengajian Asas (1 tahun) di UTP sebelum meneruskan pengajian di peringkat Sarjana Muda.

PROGRAM DI UNIVERSITI LUAR NEGARA
Calon-calon yang terpilih untuk mengikuti program di universiti luar negara dikehendaki menjalani Program Pengajian Asas (12 hingga 24 bulan) di kolej-kolej persediaan program luar negara di Malaysia sebelum meneruskan pengajian di peringkat Sarjana Muda.

PERMOHONAN DIBUKA:
Permohonan secara "online" dibuka mulai 9.00 pagi, 21 Mac 2013.
Tarikh tutup permohonan adalah pada 5.00 petang, 27 Mac 2013.

SYARAT MEMOHON

Calon-calon mestilah menggunakan keputusan SPM 2012.
Calon-calon mestilah warganegara Malaysia.
Calon-calon mestilah berumur sekurang-kurangnya 17 tahun dan tidak melebihi 19 tahun pada tahun 2013.

Andy Lau Chuen Weng, 2011 SPM 10A+'s scorer, wrote in SPM Straight A+'s for Dummies, on Education Ministry Bursaries (Program Bursary Pelajar Cemerlang SPM):

What I know about this new bursary thing is that, you MUST have at least 9A+’s to get it. This bursary is actually a sponsorship to do matriculations,A-levels, IB, or Form 6, if I’m not mistaken.

If you get 9A+’s and above in your SPM, you’ll automatically get it. No tests, no interviews! You just have to select what pre-U course you want, and it’s free!

I’ve registered for A-levels, as it is more recognised internationally, and it’s also quite valuable compared to matriculations. However, I’ve heard that it’s also tougher than matrics. I’ve also heard that they changed the STPM system, so I have no idea on how it actually is.

In the end, it all comes down to your own choice. Make sure you ask a lot of people and do some research before you make your choice!

Cambridge A-Level and American Degree Foundation Program

For the Pre-University level, there are two (2) types of scholarship available for eligible candidates:

Kijang Emas Scholarship
Kijang Emas scholarship is awarded to the top SPM 2012 students.

The Kijang Emas recipients are given the freedom to pursue their own field of study in top universities in any country of their choice.

Requirements for Kijang Emas Scholarship include:

Straight A+ in 2012 SPM examination
Not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2013
Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Sponsorship to pursue Bachelor Degree (Honours) will be extended subject to meeting the Bank's approved criteria.

Kijang Scholarship
Kijang scholarship is awarded to eligible individuals to pursue pre-university and subsequently undergraduate studies in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science and Law at selected leading universities locally and globally.

Requirements for Kijang Scholarship include:

Minimum 8As (A and A+ only) in 2012 SPM examination
Not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2013
Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Sponsorship to pursue Bachelor Degree (Honours) will be extended subject to meeting the Bank's approved criteria.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) sebagai sebuah organisasi di bawah Kementerian Kemajuan Luar Bandar dan Wilayah (KKLW) berterusan membantu kelancaran Program Transformasi Ekonomi Negara dengan membangunkan modal insan yang berupaya menyumbang kepakaran dalam 12 Bidang Ekonomi Utama Negara (NKEA).

Selaras dengan motto “Keusahawanan dan Pendidikan Global”, MARA mempelawa anda untuk memohon pinjaman pelajaran MARA bagi mengikuti pengajian ke peringkat Sarjana, Profesional dan Doktor Falsafah di universiti terkemuka luar negara dalam bidang-bidang utama keperluan pembangunan Negara.

Syarat-Syarat Kelayakan

Pemohon DAN salah seorang ibu ATAU bapa berketurunan Melayu / Bumiputera dan warganegara Malaysia.
Had umur pemohon (sehingga 31 Disember 2013): (Sarjana dan Professional < 35 tahun / Doktor Falsafah < 40 tahun)
Telah menamatkan pengajian terdahulu (Ijazah Pertama / Sarjana) atau sekurang- kurangnya berada di semester akhir pengajian.
Pengajian adalah pada tahap yang lebih tinggi daripada kelulusan sedia ada.
Pemohon perlu mempunyai kelayakan akademik minimum peringkat Ijazah Sarjana Muda untuk memohon tajaan MARA di peringkat Profesional. Kelayakan akademik bagi peringkat sijil dan diploma tidak akan dipertimbangkan.
Pemohon tidak menerima bantuan kewangan / tajaan dari mana-mana agensi untuk pengajian atau peringkat yang sama.
Mendapat tawaran pengajian bersyarat (conditional offer) atau tanpa syarat (Unconditional Offer) daripada Institusi Pengajian Tinggi luar negara yang mempunyai ranking 50 tertinggi dalam bidang pengajian berkaitan atau ranking 50 tertinggi untuk Universiti berkenaan. Mendapat pelepasan / penangguhan kontrak perkhidmatan melalui kelulusan cuti belajar tanpa gaji atau pengesahan bertulis mengenai pelepasan / perletakan jawatan bagi calon yang sedang dalam perkhidmatan.
Mendapat pelepasan / penangguhan bayaran balik pinjaman daripada badan penaja yang menaja pengajian sebelum ini (kecuali MARA). Tiada tanggungan hutang pinjaman pelajaran atau berstatus blacklist bagi pengajian terdahulu sekiranya ditaja oleh MARA.
Tidak pernah ditamatkan bantuan oleh mana-mana penaja atas sebab tindakan disiplin dan menyalahi undang-undang negara dan tidak mempunyai rekod jenayah.

Cara Permohonan

Permohonan perlu dikemukakan secara atas talian (online) di laman web MARA http://www.mara.gov.my mulai 5 Mac 2013 – 14 Mac 2013. Maklumat terkini mengenai status permohonan akan diberikan dari semasa ke semasa melalui laman web MARA.
Permohonan yang tidak mendapat maklumbalas daripada pihak MARA selepas 31 April 2013 adalah dianggap tidak berjaya dan keputusan adalah muktamad.

To support this cause, The Star Education Fund was initiated in 1994 with the primary aim of providing educational opportunities to deserving and needy young Malaysians. (TEACHER TRAINING STUDENTS)
The MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology) offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to conduct research on school education at Japanese universities under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program for 2013 as follows:

1．QUALIFICATIONS
(1) Nationality： Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. An applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible. Selection is conducted at facilities such as the Japanese Embassy/Consulate General (hereinafter “Japanese legation”) located in the country of the applicant’s nationality. (This shall not necessarily be applied incases where one embassy covers multiple nations.)

(2) Age： Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1978.

(3) Academic Background： Applicants must be graduate of universities or teacher training schools and have worked as teachers at elementary or secondary educational institutions or teachertraining schools in their home countries for at least five years in total, as of April 1, 2013. (In-service university faculty members are not eligible.)

(4) Japanese Language Ability： Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese and receive research guidance in Japanese.Applicants must also have the ability to do research in Japanese and adapt to living in Japan.

(5) Health： Applicants must be free from any mental or physical disability that would be an impediment to the pursuit of study.

(6) Arrival in Japan： Applicants must definitely be able to arrive in Japan within two weeks counted from the starting day of the study course set by the university in Japan (usually October)and the period set by the accepting university. (If the applicant arrives in Japan before the designated period for any reason, their expenses for travel to Japan will not be covered by the government.And, if the applicant cannot arrive in Japan during the designated period, the applicant must resign.)

(7) Visa acquisition： Applicantsmust acquire “College Student” (ryugaku) visasbeforeentering Japan.They then enter Japan with the “College Student” (ryugaku) residence status. Moreover, in exceptional cases when successful applicants have been residing in Japan before their acceptance under a status other than “College Student” and are to change their visa status within Japan, they must acquire a “College Student” visa by the end of the month prior to the month in which they are scheduled to start receiving the scholarship. Furthermore, note that those who change their visa status to something other than “College Student” after arriving in Japan will also lose their qualifications to be Japanese Government Scholarship recipients from the date when they change their visa status.

(8) Miscellaneous: Scholarship recipients must return to their home country right after the end of the scholarship period, andbe able to apply the results of their research on school education in Japan to their teaching after they return to their home country as well by becoming reinstated after they return to their home country.

(9) Any applicant who meets any or all of the following conditions is not eligible.If identified after the start of the scholarship period, the applicant will be required to withdraw from the scholarship.
a. Those who currently qualify as military personnel or military civilian employees.
b. Those whocan not arrive in Japan during the period designated by the university.
c. Applicants who have been awarded a Japanese Government Scholarship in the past will not be selected as recipients unless at least three years have passed since the first of the month following the final receipt of the previous scholarship, as of October 1, 2013.
d. Recipients of scholarships from other institutions (including from his/her own government) will not be selected as recipients of Japanese Government Scholarships.

Study/training is implemented only for university/training courses indicated in the pamphlet “Course
Guidebook for Japanese Studies Students,”distributed at Japanese legations overseas. (The Course

2．TERM OF SCHOLARSHIP
The term is the period necessary to complete each university’s training course and should be between October 2013 and March 2015.(Extension of the term is not allowed.)

3．SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS
(1) Allowance：The amount of the scholarship disbursement per month has yet to be determined. However, the figures for the 2012 academic year have been included here for reference. (The monetary amount each year may be subject to change because of budgetary reasons.) Actual amount of scholarship benefits in 2012:143,000 yen per month(2,000 or 3,000 yen per month will be added in case that the recipient researches in a designated area)However, the scholarship is cancelled in principle if the recipient is absent from the university for an extended period.
The scholarship will be cancelled in principle in the following situations.And,if the recipient has been receiving the scholarship despite his/her falling under any of the following situations, the recipient will be ordered to return the amount of scholarship that he/she received during the period wherein he/she was involved with any of the following situations.

The recipient is judged to have made a false statement on his/her application;
Therecipient has violated any article of his/her pledge to the Monbukagaku-daijin (Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology);
Therecipient has been subjected to disciplinary action likeexpulsionor removed from registration by the university or institution where preparatory Japanese-language lessons are undertaken;
It has been determined that it will be impossiblefor the recipient to complete the study course within the standard time period because of poor academic grades or suspension from the university;
The recipient’s status,as defined in the Appended Table I-4 ofthe Immigration Act,has been changed into one other than “College Student;”
Therecipient has received a scholarship from another institution (excluding those specified as being for research expenditures).

(2) Transportation
a. Transportation to Japan：The recipientwill be provided, according to his/her itinerary and route as designated by MEXT, with an economy-class airplane ticket from the international airport nearest to his/her home address*to the New Tokyo International Airport (or any other international airport that the appointed university uses as a normal route). Expenses such as inland transportation from his/her home address to the international airport, expenses within Japan such as the airport tax,airport usage feesand special taxes on travel will NOT be provided and should be borne by the student. (*The applicant’s official home address will be determined by their address as indicated on the application form.).Moreover, an airplane ticket will not be provided from a country other than
that of the recipient’s nationality.
b. Transportation from Japan： A recipient who returns to his/her home country within the fixed period after the expiration of his/her scholarship will be supplied, upon application, with an economy-class airplane ticket for the travel from the New Tokyo International Airport(or any other international airport that the appointed university uses as a normal route)to the international airport nearest to his/her home address*.
(Note) Any aviation and accident insurance to and from Japan shall be borne by the recipient.* In addition, the airport must be one in
the country of the recipient’nationality.

(3) Tuition and Other Fees：Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be paid by the Japanese Government.

Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Malaysia.

Secondary One Scholarships

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary One to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

Secondary Three Scholarships
The ASEAN Secondary Three Scholarships is tenable for 4 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) (or equivalent) certificate.

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

Pre-University One Scholarships
The ASEAN Pre-University One Scholarships is tenable for 2 years leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A-Level) (or equivalent) certificate. Students who perform well in the GCE A-Level (or equivalent) Examination may apply for the ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarships offered by the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University or Singapore University of Technology and Design.

The Scholarship is for 2 years of Pre-University studies in selected Singapore Junior Colleges and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory performance of the scholar.

ASEAN Scholarships for Malaysia: Pre-University One Scholarships

Albukhary International University (AiU) Scholarship Awards
Albukhary Foundation is pleased to announce its 2012/2013 scholarships for disadvantaged, underprivileged and marginalised applicants for admission into AiU, in Kedah, Malaysia.

Applicant Profiles

Application Criteria
Foundation Studies Programme

Not older than 22 years of age at the point of admission.
Physically and mentally healthy
Pass in SPM/GSCE O Level or equivalent with 5 credits/above average pass inclusive of English and Mathematics.
Obtained Academic IELTS Band 4.5 or TOEFL 470 or
Obtained the passing mark for admission into Foundation Studies in the AIU English Placement Test.

Undergraduate Studies Programme

Business

Pass Matriculation or Foundation Studies with CGPA 2.0 and credit in Mathematics at SPM/GSCE O level or equivalent. Those with 2.0 and above in Business and Accounting subjects at Matriculation/Foundation level has an added advantage.
OR

Pass in STPM/HSC/A Level or equivalent with two full passes or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.0 and obtained credit in Mathematics at SPM/GSCE O Level or equivalent.
OR

Any other Diploma with minimum CGPA of 2.5 and credit in Mathematics at SPM/GSCE O Level or equivalent.

Pass Matriculation or Foundation Studies with CGPA 2.0 and credit in Mathematics at SPM level. Those with 2.0 and above in IT or Computer Science related subjects and mathematics at Matriculation /Foundation level have an added advantage.
OR
