The UEM Group Scholarship offers scholarships to support the national objective of creating elite scholars in local universities, and serve as a talent supply chain to develop world-class leaders who are capable of undertaking strategic positions in GLCs.

Maxis Undergraduate Scholarship
The Maxis Undergraduate Scholarship presents young and outstanding Malaysians a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to embark on a journey that will allow them to realise their goals.

Maxis is offering undergraduate scholarships to our postpaid customers or children of our customers who have excelled both in their academic studies as well as their extra-curricular activities.

Maxis seeks well rounded individuals, who have demonstrated leadership skills in the classroom, as well as in sports, social work or other areas. Recipients of this scholarship will be able to pursue courses at either a local or overseas university – a significant step towards pursuing their life’s dreams and ambitions.

Eligibility and Criteria
Applicants or their parents must be a Maxis postpaid customer with a minimum of one year tenure with Maxis postpaid services, having a good payment record with Maxis.

Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence and be active in extra-curricular activities. The academic requirements are:

STPM - minimum 3 As or
Matriculation / Diploma - CGPA 3.5 or above or
A Levels - minimum 3 As or
Australian TER - minimum 90.0 or
Recognised foundation/Pre-university courses – equivalent to CGPA 3.5 or above or
Current 1st or 2nd year university students must have a CGPA of 3.5 or above

Other requirements:

Possess a good command of the English language, both written and oral;
Team player;
Excel in extra-curricular activities and sports; and
Possess leadership qualities.

Applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged below 23 years old.

Applicants must not be bonded to any body and must have secured an unconditional offer letter from a local or foreign university prior to receiving the Maxis Undergraduate Scholarship award. Applicants currently in their 1st or 2nd year of undergraduate studies may also apply.

The local or foreign university must be recognised by the Public Services Department of Malaysia. For local universities, there is no restriction to field of studies; for foreign universities, preferred field of studies are those related to the telecommunications industry.

Upon submission, the Scholarship Committee will review the applications and shortlist candidates for interviews. There will be 2 rounds of interviews before the final list of scholars is announced.

Successful recipients will each receive a scholarship package worth RM25,000. The scholarships shall be disbursed on a lump sump basis and shall be paid directly to the recipients. This is a non-bonded scholarship. This scholarship program is opened to all students who fulfill the eligibility criteria. Part-time students can apply too. This scholarship program is opened to both undergraduate & postgraduate students.

Yayasan Bursa Scholarship

The Yayasan Bursa Scholarship is a four-year programme designed to target best-in-class achievers who have obtained excellent results in major government examinations e.g. Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or Matriculation, for sponsorship in local public or private universities.

Carlsberg Hua Zong Education Fund (CEF) Study Loan

Eligibility

The Carlsberg Hua Zong Education Fund (CEF) Study Loan is open to all Malaysian citizens who are enrolled in local or foreign institutions of higher learning hold certificates in UEC, SPM or STPM; Diplomas; and/or any higher certificates; and are ambitious, enthusiastic and responsible.

Date of Application

The loan application form is available in May each year.
Applications can be made between May and June .
The exact deadline will be determined by the Fund Management Committee after studying the commencement dates of different institutions of higher learning. The Committee will publish the exact deadline and other details on the CEF website and in the major press nationwide.

Application Procedure

Applicants are required to submit the following documents to The Federation of Chinese Associations, Malaysia before the application deadline:

- Three copies of the completed loan application form (photocopies are allowed)

- IC (photocopy)

- Recent passport-size photograph

- Academic transcripts (photocopies certified by the relevant institution)

- Certificates of Award or Achievement (photocopies)

- Letter of Admission or Certificate of Enrolment from the institution of higher learning (photocopy certified by the relevant institution)

- ICs of two guarantors (photocopies)

- Proofs of income of two guarantors, e.g. pay slip, income tax Form J or employment letter (photocopies)

The loan application form can be downloaded here. Alternatively, applicants may visit or write The Federation of Chinese Associations, Malaysia to request for an application form (for write-in requests, please attach a self-addressed, stamped envelope).
We will not process application forms that are incomplete or received after the application deadline.

Selection Criteria

The CEF Management Committee will select the loan beneficiary based on the following criteria:

Academic performance.
Performance in extra-curricular activitie.
Family financial circumstances.
The institution and the course undertaken.

The decision of the Fund Management Committee is final.

Loan Amount and Number of Beneficiaries

Every beneficiary will receive an interest-free loan of RM5,000 in each academic year for the official duration of the course.
The Fund Management Committee will determine the number of beneficiaries for each year based on the fund’s annual financial status.

Notification

Successful applicants will be notified via mail and telephone within one-and-a-half months from the application deadline, and will be invited to attend the loan-contract signing and award ceremony. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

Signing of Loan Contract

Loan beneficiaries are required to sign a contract with the CEF. The beneficiaries must fulfill their responsibilities and obligations as stated in the contract throughout the loan period, and make loan repayments in accordance with the contract after graduation.
Every loan beneficiary must have two guarantors, the first one being the beneficiary’s parent or guardian. Both guarantors must be Malaysian citizens aged 21 and above.
Both guarantors are required to sign a contract with the CEF. The guarantors are obliged to make repayments on behalf of the beneficiary in the case of the beneficiary’s failure to make loan repayments after graduation.

Loan Release

Every beneficiary must open a savings account with a designated bank. The Fund Management Committee will deposit the loan amount into the beneficiary’s bank account directly.
The Fund Management Committee will release the loan on a yearly basis upon commencement of the course.

Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) Scholarships

It is a scholarship to be awarded to students or/and employees of the Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad or employees’ children. The Scholarship will be awarded to student(s) who have successfully selected by the Scholarship Committee. The selection of the suitable student(s) shall be at the absolute discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

The value of each award will range from RM6,500 – RM7,500.00 per annum depending on the selected course of study under the SOPB Scholarship. The scholarship awarded shall includes course fee and living allowances. The value of award will be determined by the Scholarship Committee after the interview and base on the financial standing of the student. Consideration for scholarship award and the amount award are based on the predetermined scholarship criteria and the overall scholarship fund.

How to apply
Advertisement for the scholarship will be placed out in the major newspapers and notices will be put up at UPM and UITM Faculty of Agriculture / Faculty of Applied Science yearly. The closing date should be one month from the date of the first advertisement on the said newspaper.

The SOPB Scholarship Committees will shortlist the potential candidates and arrange for an interview and that the decision of the Scholarship Committees will be final and appeals by any of the Student(s) will not be entertained. An evaluation will be carried out and right candidates will be identified and the amount of scholarship will be determined.

Eligibility

Only Malaysian Citizens are eligible to apply.
Applicant who has not received any other sponsors.
The Scholarships to be awarded are for needy students only.
Applicants should possess good academic qualifications and should be active in school.
Courses must be accredited by LAN and undertaken and completed in Malaysia.
Applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at UPM, UITM or other local universities reading for a first degree or diploma in Agriculture / Engineering related courses.

International Medical University (IMU) Scholarships

The International Medical University (IMU) has recognised that there are many Malaysian students who aspire to be a health sciences professional. For various reasons, some of these students are not able to achieve their life-long ambition, including those students whose families do not have the financial resources to support them for entry into an international institution like the IMU.

Scholarships Now Open For Application Entry 2008/2009

John Beck Scholarship and The IMU Medical Scholarship
- Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the entire duration of the 5-year undergraduate medical course at the IMU- MBBS, valued at RM338,000.
- Two (2) medical scholarships (John Beck and IMU) will be awarded each year for the August intake.
The IMU - University of Strathclyde Pharmacy (MPharm) Scholarship
- Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the entire duration of the 3 ½-year undergraduate MPharm course at the IMU and the University of Strathclyde, valued at more than RM180,000.
- Two (2) pharmacy scholarships will be awarded every year for the December intake.
The IMU Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) Scholarship
- Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the entire duration of the 4-year undergraduate BPharm course at the IMU, valued at RM129,600.
- One (1) student will be awarded every year for the July intake.
The IMU Bachelor of Nursing Scholarship
- Each scholarship will cover the full tuition fees for the entire duration of the 4-year undergraduate Nursing course at the IMU valued at RM72,000.
- Two (2) students will be awarded every year for the July intake.

The scholarships are open to all Malaysians but are not meant for students who are already enrolled in the IMU. The scholarship will provide full remission of tuition fees for the duration of the entire undergraduate course at the IMU, subject to satisfactory progress. Living Expenses will also be provided to the value of RM 10,000 per annum (or foreign currency equivalent).

Students who wish to apply must have excellent academic background together with other qualities, including strong extra-curricula activities and who, for financial reasons, would otherwise be unable to pursue a career in medicine, pharmacy or nursing.

These prestigious scholarships are established to reflect the IMU's contribution to society. It also is an integral part of the University's staff development scheme to groom young individuals with high potential to be part of the future IMU faculty for training of medical, pharmacy and allied health professionals. This is in line with our nations strive towards excellence in education and healthcare in the 21st century.

Korean Government Scholarship Program for Graduate Students

The Government of the Republic of Korea is providing scholarship in master’s degree and doctorate degree for 30 Malaysian students to study in Korea. The scholarship serves to promote education exchanges and mutual friendship between Malaysia and Korea as well as to help them keep pursuing their higher education.

The scholarship duration covers two years for master’s degree program and three years for a doctor’s degree program (excluding a 1-year or less Korean language course). Scholarship holders are required to take a preparatory Korean language training course before taking a degree course.

Benefits of the scholarship include roundtrip airfare, monthly allowances (about RM2,800), tuition fees, research allowance, dissertation printing cost, settlement and repatriation allowance, medical insurance as well as full Korean language training expenses for one year.

The applicants must be under 40 years of age as of 1 September 2008. Applicants for degree program must have already finished or expected to finish a bachelor’s degree prior to 31 August 2008 in order to apply for a master’s degree program or a master’s degree prior to 31 August 2008 in order to apply for doctoral degree program. Applicants should also possess Grade Point Average (GPA) of above ‘B’ level.

The OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship, established in the 1970s, provides financial assistance to students who have gained admission or are eligible for admission into first year full-time undergraduate studies at local Malaysian universities. 8TV Scholarship Fund

Up to RM 1,000,000 worth of scholarships are now available under the 8TV Scholarship Fund for qualified students

This fund enables qualified Malaysian students from all walks of life to pursue tertiary education at foundation, diploma or degree at SEGi Colleges nationwide. CRITERIA
* Scholarship recipients shall maintain high academic results of CGPA 3.2 every semester to be entitled to scholarship for the next semester.
* Scholarship recipients shall contribute to activities or promotion by SEGi College and/ or 8TV.
* Scholarship recipients must also contribute to SEGi College’s activities, including participation in promotional activities, for up to 5 hours per week during their period of study at the College.

POLICIES
* Scholarships offered cover tuition fees and internal examination fees at undergraduate degree, diploma level or foundation level only.
* Scholarships only cover the course of studies at SEGi College and shall not include the foreign portion of the studies and external moderation or examination fees.
* If the scholarship recipient does not meet the required academic requirement, he/she will undertake to pay either the re-sit/re-take fees as deemed necessary by the respective faculty.
* If the scholarship offer is based on the forecast result, SEGi College reserves the right to revise the offer if the actual result falls below the forecast result.
* Scholarship offered under the fund is not exchangeable, nor is the unutilized portion of the scholarship refundable in cash terms.
* All information furnished by the scholarship recipient must be true and correct in all respects. In the event of any inaccurate or incorrect information furnished, the scholarship is liable to be withdrawn without notice and in such event the scholarship recipient shall be required to pay SEGi College the amount of tuition fee waived, to date.
* The offer of a scholarship is valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of offer of the said scholarship. If the offer is not exercised after one (1) year, it shall lapse automatically.
* The grant of scholarship shall be valid for a period of five (5) years from the date of commencement of the programme. If the recipient of the scholarship does not graduate after five (5) years from the date of commencement, the scholarship shall automatically lapse.

Scholarship Features
1. The value of each scholarship shall be RM10,000 or more by way of waiver of tuition fee.
2. All courses must be undertaken and completed in Malaysia.
3. The scholarships are for different types of courses in terms of disciplines and levels.
4. Scholarships available are for the following levels of study :

i) Diploma and Certificate courses
ii) Degree courses
iii) Post Graduate Courses

5. The duration of courses range from 1 to 4 years
6. Students are allowed to apply to more than one institution but only one scholarship offer will be made.

TAWARAN BIASISWA PROGRAM IJAZAH LUAR NEGARA (PILN) 2008 KEPADA LULUSAN SPM 2007
Pada setiap tahun, kerajaan melalui Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (JPA) menawarkan biasiswa kepada pelajar cemerlang untuk melanjutkan pelajaran di luar negara di peringkat Ijazah Pertama. Penawaran biasiswa ini diteruskan pada tahun 2008 dengan memberi fokus kepada bidang-bidang kritikal seperti Perubatan, Pergigian, Farmasi, Sains Perubatan Veterinar, Kejuruteraan, Sains & Teknologi serta bidang Sains Sosial yang diperlukan oleh perkhidmatan awam dan negara.

Sejajar dengan pelaksanaan RMK9 dan pembangunan modal insan dalam bidang yang terpilih, kerajaan telah menambah bilangan biasiswa sebanyak 200 tempat. Ini menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan bilangan biasiswa yang disediakan bagi tahun 2008 adalah sebanyak 2,000 tempat. Jumlah peruntukan yang akan dibelanjakan oleh kerajaan bagi membiayai 2,000 pelajar sepanjang tempoh pengajian adalah dianggarkan sebanyak RM 1.74 bilion.

Maklumat dan syarat asas untuk Program Ijazah Luar Negara adalah seperti berikut:
·Terbuka untuk calon lepasan SPM yang memperolehi keputusan cemerlang
·Umur belum mencapai 18 tahun (19 tahun bagi pelajar peralihan) pada 31 Disember 2007
·Calon perlu melalui proses temuduga, dan
·Calon yang berjaya akan mengikuti kursus persediaan di pusat- pusat pengajian yang ditetapkan oleh JPA.

Kriteria yang digunapakai untuk pemilihan/penawaran biasiswa kerajaan/JPA adalah seperti berikut:
·Pencapaian akademik
·Penglibatan dalam kegiatan ko-kurikulum
·Prestasi temuduga, dan
·Sosio-ekonomi / Latarbelakang keluarga.

Kaedah permohonan adalah sepenuhnya secara on-line (atas talian) melalui portal www.jpa.gov.my dan tiada sebarang bayaran dikenakan.

Program Ijazah Luar Negara (PILN) 2008 adalah dibuka khusus kepada lepasan SPM tahun 2007 yang memperolehi keputusan yang cemerlang. Pada tahun 2007, seramai 439,225 orang calon telah menduduki peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) berbanding seramai 438,132 orang pada tahun 2006.

Peningkatan bilangan calon ini dijangka akan menjadikan PILN 2008 lebih kompetitif. Ini kerana pada tahun 2007, JPA telah menerima sebanyak 12,499 permohonan dan daripada jumlah tersebut sebanyak 746 permohonan diterima daripada kalangan calon yang mendapat keputusan 1A dalam semua matapelajaran SPM tahun 2006. Setiap tahun PILN menjadi tumpuan banyak pihak sehingga mewujudkan pergantungan harapan yang tinggi terutamanya di kalangan calon dan juga ibu bapa. Dua bidang yang paling popular di kalangan calon ialah Kejuruteraan dan Perubatan. Manakala itu, negara pengajian pilihan oleh majoriti calon/pelajar ialah United Kingdom, Australia dan New Zealand.

Calon-calon dinasihatkan supaya membuat pilihan secara bijak dan memberi perhatian kepada perkara-perkara seperti berikut:
·Kriteria pemilihan - peluang adalah lebih tinggi bagi calon yang mendapat gred 1A bagi 9 mata pelajaran dan aktif di dalam kegiatan ko-kurikulum berbanding dengan calon yang mendapat gred 1A bagi 15 mata pelajaran tetapi tidak aktif di dalam kegiatan ko-kurikulum;
·Kursus/bidang - selain perubatan, terdapat banyak lagi bidang kritikal yang ditaja iaitu Pergigian, Farmasi dan Sains Perubatan Veterinar. Di samping itu tajaan juga diberikan kepada bidang lain seperti Ekonomi, Senibina dan Perakaunan yang juga amat diperlukan oleh negara dan perkhidmatan awam;
·Pilihan kursus calon hendaklah memilih kursus pengajian yang bersesuaian dengan kelayakan SPM yang dimiliki;
·Negara - penetapan negara tempat pengajian adalah menjadi hak JPA/penaja. Calon adalah dinasihatkan agar menerima keputusan penaja kerana apa yang penting adalah matlamat utama iaitu untuk melanjutkan pengajian. Semua kursus di negara-negara yang ditaja oleh JPA adalah of good standing dan diiktiraf. Sebagai contoh pelajar yang bergraduat dalam bidang Perubatan di Indonesia, India dan Rusia akan tetap dilantik sebagai Pegawai Perubatan sepertimana mereka yang bergraduat daripada Ireland atau United Kingdom.

Iklan tawaran akan diisiarkan menerusi portal www.jpa.gov.my dan juga akhbar- akhbar utama tempatan pada 9 hb, 10 hb, 12 hb dan 16 hb Mac 2008 dan calon perlu merujuk ke portal www.jpa.gov.my untuk mendapatkan butiran tawaran dan syarat kelayakan PILN 2008 yang akan mula dibuka pada 9 Mac 2008.

Permohonan secara atas talian (on-line) boleh dibuat mulai tarikh keputusan SPM 2007 diumumkan secara rasmi.

Mulai tahun 2007, JPA melaksanakan ketetapan bajet untuk memberi pertimbangan khas calon yang cemerlang di dalam SPM dan berasal daripada keluarga yang berpendapatan rendah. Bagi calon yang mendapat 10 1A dan memenuhi syarat-syarat PILN serta syarat pendapatan keluarga tidak melebihi RM1500 sebulan akan ditawarkan biasiswa secara automatik. Walau bagaimanapun, calon masih perlu mematuhi peraturan dan kriteria PILN dan melalui proses temuduga seperti calon-calon lain.

Calon-calon yang memenuhi syarat-syarat dan kriteria PILN serta memiliki kelayakan bahasa asing seperti bahasa Jerman, Perancis atau Jepun akan diberi pertimbangan sewajarnya sekiranya memohon program pengajian ke negara- negara berkenaan. Program Pendedahan Kerjaya Seorang Doktor akan diadakan pada 24 hingga 28 Mac 2008 di hospital-hospital kerajaan yang akan ditetapkan oleh JPA. Calon yang memohon untuk mengikuti program perubatan adalah diwajibkan menghadiri program ini.

Calon-calon yang berjaya akan mengikuti kursus persediaan di pusat-pusat pengajian yang ditetapkan oleh JPA. Calon juga perlu mencapai had kecemerlangan (cut-off point) yang ditetapkan, rekod kehadiran kelas melebihi 90% dan tidak mempunyai rekod disiplin bagi membolehkan calon diteruskan tajaan ke universiti-universiti di luar negara.

PENUTUP
Pemakluman awal ini adalah bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan kepada bakal calon/pelajar akan senario permohonan, kriteria pemilihan, had penawaran dan saingan serta persediaan yang perlu dihadapi oleh setiap orang calon/pelajar bagi mendapatkan tawaran biasiswa kerajaan yang diuruskan oleh JPA.

Tanggapan umum bahawa prestasi akademik adalah jaminan dan menjadi faktor penentu untuk calon mendapatkan biasiswa khususnya untuk PILN adalah tidak tepat. Harapan JPA adalah agar calon yang tidak berjaya tidak membuat perbandingan dengan calon yang lain dan mempersoalkan kenapa ianya tidak ditawarkan biasiswa atas alasan mencapai prestasi akademik yang cemerlang.

Bersandarkan kepada faktor-faktor seperti bilangan permohonan yang tinggi di kalangan calon yang cemerlang serta bilangan biasiswa yang terhad, JPA berpendapat PILN 2008 akan terus menjadi amat kompetitif. JPA dengan ini menasihatkan calon serta ibu-bapa agar bersedia dan turut berusaha untuk mendapatkan sumber-sumber penajaan yang lain. Di samping itu, calon-calon yang tidak berjaya mendapat biasiswa di bawah PILN masih berpeluang untuk mendapat tajaan JPA di IPT dalam negara.

Maklumat umum berkaitan penawaran biasiswa kerajaan/JPA juga boleh diperolehi dengan menghubungi talian 03-88853412 (5 talian) mulai 10 Mac 2008 ataupun hadir sendiri di kaunter-kaunter Bahagian Latihan, JPA sempena Program JPA Bersama Pelanggan pada setiap hari Jumaat terakhir setiap bulan bertempat di Lobi, Blok C2, Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan Putrajaya mulai jam 8.00 pagi hingga 12.00 tengahari.

4. Tidak mendapat penajaan lain dari mana-mana pihak.
5. Kelulusan akademik yang bersesuaian.

Shell Malaysia Scholarships

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must:
* Successfully completed your SPM, STPM, O-Levels, A-Levels & Diploma
* Or presently a Year 1 Undergraduate student
* Excellent academic achievement with emphasis in English
* Demonstration of leadership skills through active participation in extra-curricular activities. e.g. societies and clubs, sports, etc.
* Strong academic record and realistic expectation of a high CGPA or its equivalent

Preferred disciplines for scholarships include:
* Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical)
* Sciences (Geosciences, Chemistry and Physics)
* Business Administration / Economics
* Finance & Accounting
* IT (includes Business/ Management IT)

Master of Science (MsC) in Geosciences
Candidate must posses a good Honours Degree or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university.

Language Requirements
Applicants who are Malaysian citizens must possess a credit in Bahasa Melayu at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification. Foreign and local students are required to have English proficiency in both written and spoken by the meeting one the following requirements:
* Minimum TOEFL score of 550 OR
* Minimum IELTS score of 6.0 OR
* Minimum ELTS score of Band-6 OR
* Minimum MUET score of Band-4.

Applicants who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from this requirement.

How to apply offline
Applications may be submitted provisionally based on latest semester results (for Matriculation students) or Trial Examination results (for STPM students). This may be done through schools or individually.

Shell Malaysia reserves the right for verification of the above.

Please indicate on the upper left side of the envelope whether your application is for Overseas or Local scholarship. Duly completed Application Form giving full personal and academic particulars, substantiated with certified copy of actual examination results, parents' salary slip/ Income Tax statement and other relevant documents should reach the following address. The closing date is 31st March 2008.
